This pregnancy is flying by! As soon as I hit my second trimester it was like my body was finally like, okay we can calm down and enjoy this. And it really, really has. It’s been a completely different pregnancy than with my daughter, Zoya.
I feel like I’m actually enjoying it too!
I’ve always been jealous of the girls who say things like “I really love being pregnant”, “I’d get pregnant again just to be pregnant”, “I’m going to miss being pregnant” and I’m over here like… is that really the truth?!
I’m here to say… this pregnancy has been like one of those! No serious complaints … yet. I have to keep reminding myself I still have 12 more weeks (3 months!!!).
How I’m Feeling
Honestly, I feel super great! I move a little bit slower and bending down to pick things up off the ground (toys, toys, and more toys) is a little more difficult, but that’s to be expected as I get a bigger belly.
Doing the dishes have to be done in like 5-minute spurts because my lower back does cramp up really fast trying to lean over my belly to clean the dishes in the sink.
Appetite wise – really wanting ice cream like all the time. I’m doing my best to limit that to days I workout.
Fitness/Workouts
Speaking of days I workout, I’m shooting for 3-4 workouts a week, but my bigger goal is to try and workout one day, have a rest day the next, workout the following day, etc. I feel like for me this keeps me motivated to continue going to the gym, but it also makes me make smarter food choices!
I’m definitely at the point where I’m modifying some workouts like 80% of the way.
I’m usually doing some sort of air squat, riding the assault bike, and waaaay lighter barbell work.
I personally have noticed coning while I row so I won’t be doing that anymore. I also stick away from high-impact jumping/jarring movements because of being more cognizant of my pelvic floor, so no running or jump roping.
I’ve been doing a lot of bird dog exercises. I’ll have to post a fun workout that I’ve been doing on heavy modification “scaled workout” days.
In pregnancy, and in life in general, I gain most of my weight in my hips/booty/upper legs so I really try as much as possible to incorporate legs in every workout.
Weight Gain
Ahhh… a woman’s favorite subject. I went 25 weeks without weighing myself and letting that even enter my thoughts or my concern.
Then my pants started to get a little tight. Hahaha.
I actually bought two pairs of joggers in my first trimester a size bigger than I usually am so that I could wear them during pregnancy, postpartum, and then have a slightly looser fit when I’ve lost the pregnancy weight gain.
Jokes on me.
These hips don’t lie. I can’t fit them anymore.
I’m sitting at 17 pounds gained though with 12 weeks left… I’d say I’m on track to gain what I have in my other two pregnancies. 39 pounds. Oh my.
Baby Purchases
So far we have only bought one thing for the baby! How is that?? Is that third child problems or what?
I blame it mostly on the fact that we are extremely busy and not only do we have a cross country trip that we are making in two weeks, but we also come back from the trip to the busiest time of the year – Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas!
I have my baby shower in the middle of October so I think after that I’ll go full force in getting the last few things for the baby.
With this being the third pregnancy though, I feel like I’ve learned what you really need as soon as the baby is here, what you’ll need in a couple months, and what you just want because it’s super cute or maybe super convenient.
I’m trying to strike a good balance between what we really need and then plan for what we will need in the first 3-6 months.
What I really WANT and something I’ve never had with my other kids is a glider/rocking chair. It’s happening. We are getting it because at 30 years old, I deserve a comfy chair to rock and breastfeed my baby in. Plus, with breastfeeding… I’ll literally get my monies worth out of it within like the first month of getting it. LOL!
Fashion
So, other than the jogger situation… I have had success with two amazingly beautiful dresses that I cannot wait to share and post a picture of with everyone!
The first one I’m going to be wearing to the wedding we are going to in North Carolina. I’m really hoping we get some good shots while we are there. I’ve heard NC is super pretty so maybe we will have some fun backdrops! If not, our maternity shoot is in October and I’ll be wearing it again. Hint: It’s from Baltic Born!
The second one I’m going to be wearing to my baby shower. I just got it today and it’s literally so perfect. It’s not as dressy as the first dress and more so can be worn every day, so I’ll definitely be getting more uses out of it. Hint: It’s from Pink Lily.
Side Notes
I recently bought a 40 oz Stanley cup because I have been seeing them everywhere and the FOMO was real. But I’ve gotta be honest (I’ll be doing a review of it soon!)… it’s been pretty great so far. I’m trying to be focused on getting an adequate amount of water in each day and it’s been helpful!
Zoya’s obsession with the baby continues… she has a little ritual she does every time she wants to see the belly. She will say see baby and push up my shirt (or my dress…. YIKES!) and give my belly button a kiss, give my entire belly a bear hug, say love you baby, and then “squeak” my belly button.
It’s the funniest and cutest thing I’ve ever seen her do and I love it still so much. It’s been my tactic to calm her down as well when she gets super emotional about something. Crying because she doesn’t want to go to school? No problem! Zoya, come over here and tell baby that you’re going to school and give baby a kiss. Instantly better!
Works every time…
Third trimester is right around the corner!!!! Talk soon!
